Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to force a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
